I am really missing information on:

  • the appropriate "next-server" definition in dhcp server: the bootfile and its location "filename"
  • the tftp-server config details: where is it located?

      I have a working solution:

      In the dhcpd.conf of the dhcp server, I inserted this:

        group
            {
             next-server openthinserver.mydomain.com;
                class "pxeclients" {
                   match if substring (option vendor-class-identifier, 0, 9) = "PXEClient";
                   filename "pxelinux.0";
                }
              include "/etc/dhcp/dhcpd.openthinserver";
             }

      at the end, before the final

      "}"

      and the file

       "/etc/dhcp/dhcpd.openthinserver"

      contains the hosts like this:

      host thinclient-01 {hardware ethernet 00:01:2E:47:48:B6; fixed-address thinclient-01; option host-name "thinclient-01";}

      (The tftp server is apparently started via a java poces and the directory is here. Inside a homedir, a bit bizarre for a server:

      /home/openthinclient/otc-manager-home/nfs/root/tftp

      )
